Welcome! We are a student-organized group from the University of Texas at Austin that explores the art of Chinese calligraphy.
Chinese calligraphy is an art form derived from the Chinese written language, which can be dated as far back as 1200 BCE. As the language evolved, calligraphy also expanded to multiple styles, including the three broad categories of Standard, Semi-cursive, and Cursive scripts.
Our club primarily focuses on learning the techniques of the Standard scripts and developing the fundamental skills needed to expand into the Semi-cursive and the Cursive scripts. In addition, we also explore the history and culture behind calligraphy that enable us to truly appreciate the beauty and philosophy of calligraphy. Therefore, we are as excited to teach beginners as learning from seasoned calligraphy artists.
